Markus, anyone help!
What is this error message I keep getting? It kicks me out of games, and its starting to really annoy me.
I think it maybe because I have Visual C++ installed on my computer, if that is the case, I don't really need it so I can delete it. Thanks everyone!

1. Did you try disabling 3D mode?
2. Did you try disabling the sound? (lots of issues with sound) 3. When exactly does this occur in the game? Also.. can you give us more info on your system specs? Kurtis

1. No, will try that
2. No, will try also 3. Anytime, its happened when I'm not playing, just looking at a roster screen... and the that screen shot ws taken from when I was actually in the middle of a game! Regardless it exits out of the entire program and doesn't save anything. And my system specs are P4 1.2 Ghz... 384 MB RDRAM... 128 MB GeForce3... its about a year and a half old, but it should be able to handle OOTP5 just fine.

Ok, well we need a bit more than that. Version of Direct X , Type of sound card, what type of Windows you are using. More we know the more we can help. If your Direct X is not 9.0 , please upgrade. After you know the version of Direct X please run dxdiag after clicking start then run and typing dxdiag in the box. Run each tab category and see what you need to upgrade on your sound, video drivers. Let us know then what you find.

I am having the same problem.
It has happened numerous times, all before I get more than 5 minutes into the game. I just downloaded the software today. I am running windows 2000, and I have directx 9.0. I ran dxdiag and it says everything is fine. I have tried turning off the sound and it is ineffective. Where do i turn 3d off? My sound card is an ESS Maestro PC Audio. Taking out the sound made the games go faster (there was a slight delay everytime I would make a choice with the sound), but removing it didn't stop this problem.
And as stated above, the toggling of the 3D mode did not help either.

I reason I thought it was a Visual C++ problem was when I'd select "cancel", it'd open up Visual C++ to "debug" the program.
I uninstalled Visual C++ and this still happened, so apparently its not Visual C++ at fault here. I notice me and Ozdoltorps both have Windows 2000. Could it be a glitch with Windows 2000? Any other Windows 2000 users out there have this problem? I also played around with DirectX, did all the tests it asked me to do, and the diagnosis was that everything is fine. And as stated above, the sound and 3D mode have no effect on this crash bug. Argh, I'm in the playoffs and I can't seem to finish a game, I would really like to avoid simming at this point... help! Thanks everyone...

I have been playing the game without creating a manager and have had no problems. I am guessing it has something to do with that feature.

I am having this same problem. I was running it on a laptop:
Windows 2000 Srvr. Pentium III 600 192 MB RAM and 11Gig HD SP2 DirX 9 S3 Savage Video Disabled Sound Originally had VB.Net but uninstalled(thought that was the problem) but kept happening. Then on another machine Pentium II Celeron 384 MB RAM 40 GB HD Windows 2000 Srvr. SP2 DirX9 ATI Raedon 7000 Disabled Sound With VB.Net This machine has given me no problems at all. I doubt it's anything HW related, which seems to be the only difference in these 2 machines. I ran chdsk on my laptop as well as defrag but still had problems. I've seen this error with other apps before, and i ended up finding that i had a bad block, which chkdsk fixed. But chkdsk finds nothing. I also increased disk memory cache a little bit, and switched to application acceleration rather then background processess. All my drivers are newer on the laptop then they are on the desktop. I think this one can be chalked up to WFM. |
