How do 7 day lineups work?

I want to set my 7 day lineup then if I can't set the next 7 day lineup then I want computer to take over. Is this possible?

What I don't understand is, I go to "Lineups overview" and set my lineups there but in the game players are all switched up. Yes, they are rested, but get changed from my lineup when I see them in the box score. Why is that?
