OOTP baseball cards can't handle special characters

strange the game automatically generates these names but you can't make baseball cards for them (maybe some you can, but some french dude wouldn't work until I took the special character off his name, then no problem).

is this new to this year or has it always been an issue?

It happened to me, also. I had to remove the accent mark in the name. It's the font that is used. I think some fonts are ok and some just don't like the accent marks. You just have to remove them if you want the card to show. Sometimes you might even have to retype the players name twice to make sure it is removed. Remember to hit the enter button after you type the name, both first name and last name if the accent is in both. The only new thing is the card doesn't even show this year. Last year it would show with a small rectangle where the accent was in the name.
