Hi folks,
I'm a veteran OOTP player who took a few years off but am getting back into it (thanks, COVID!). Just downloaded OOTP21 and am interested in setting up an online historical league but need a refresher course. A couple initial questions I'd appreciate input on: 1) What's the best guide out there? Any better than these two? https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1623481274 http://manuals.ootpdevelopments.com/index.php?man=ootp21&page=historical_wizard 2) Is the Lahman database the best one to import? Thanks in advance to anyone willing to lend a hand. Mark |

The second guide is from the the OOTP online manual. It's not so much recommendation as it is explanation. Both are good reading before you set up your league. |

The "1915+" part, in case you don't know, refers to OOTP's minor leagues as beginning with the 1914 (not 1915) Federal League (often considered a "major league" by researchers, but a minor league for OOTP purposes), and then the Texas League in 1919, Negro League in 1920, and then other leagues follow (PCL in 1921, Internation League in 1927, and so forth...) as their teams become affiliated with MLB teams. |

I'm reading a book written in 1949 called The Cleveland Indians. Its a history written by one of the beat writers of that era and is interesting to hear about the early years of the American League. (Sort of like hearing about the early years of baseball in Seattle and San Diego now.) It turns out that the owner of the Indians back before WWI, Charles Somers, also owned the New Orleans Pelicans and used them to stash young players. So the concept of minor league affiliates goes back pretty early.
