Strikeout Totals

Strikeouts are still really, really high. This is 2020.. 8 players had over 200 strikeouts. That has happened just 3 times in the previous 10 seasons.

2023 had 15 hitters with over 200 K's. League average down to .249, 2nd worst in like 55 years.

Honestly, it's up for debate. The modifiers may need to be tweaked, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that those strikeout totals would happen, especially in today's game when hitters are less afraid of the strikeout if it means more home runs.

I could see an increase but that's exponential. Right out of the gate that many players with 200+ home runs? Guys with 250+ home runs and averages below the Mendoza line? That's a bit much.

What are the total K's for the league compared to recent seasons? If that number is way higher than real life, and with that many 200k players I bet it is, you're probably only a LTM (league total modifier) adjustment away from having normal numbers.

Did you autocalc your LTMs before starting the season?

If you don't like it, you can tweak the league totals. I think it's fine.

I guess I am going to have to but that's honestly something that I have never had to do with the game and I've been playing since OOTP 4. The engine has always generated what I've felt to be accurate statistics which is the biggest part that keeps me coming back year to year. I just don't think that when you literally double the number of 200+ strike out instances in the history of the game in one season its "fine."

That was one sim... Try again in the release build.

Oh and yes, if the trend continues in RL, it is indeed fine.

I am planning on it. The trend was consistent across all of the builds in the four test sims that I ran, and it was reported by at least one other user.

If the trend does indeed shift that way, I will 100% agree with you, but we won't know that until OOTP 22 or 23 comes out.

If it was not fixed in the release build, I guess I'll have to start tinkering..
