Off Season in Season Simulator ?!?!?!?

It is for HH but has anyone used it for OOTP? I know the commish of a now defunct league did.

Here is the page for the specifics.

http://baseballsimcentral.com/dloads...led/1282.shtml

and here is what it does

Here are the main features:

-Players demanding to be traded, sometimes to a certain team
-Players demanding to be released
off season injuries (such as a para-sailing accident, or a car accident)
-Illnesses (These will range from the common cold to cancer and HIV)
and other things that can effect a player, such as a movie deal takes the player away, or the team loudmouth spouts off at the team rival and cannot play any games in the other teams park, or maybe one of your players is arrested for a sexual crime, assault and battery or possesion of illegal substances.

Although this program CANNOT change any game files (it will be included in v2.0) and does not specify players names (it is in the works for v1.0), it is still a great simulator and can make High Heat much more engaging than it already is.

Now I cant really do anything with it until I get home but it says that it doesnt actually change anything in HH.

So maybe what it does is use the player dat file and then churns out results based on the utility and the dat file.

Anyway it would be cool if thats what it did, and you could make it work for OOTP

I'm not just saying this because I've done stuff for High Heat, but without mod makers that game would have bitten the dust already. A great group come out and bail that game out every year. That game SHOULD be great, and it just keeps missing the boat.

Yeah, I agree. I have the 2003 version I think, and I never saw a need to buy it again.

Scroll through the agreement lazy and find it. It'll say something like, "Your access code is: xxxxxxxx"

Oh, and nice find. I think I'm going to end up using it for my sim hockey league. I've already thought of how to use it there.

Ok, this is a program that I used before and could be useful in both solo and league settings. I guess you would just "number" the players on the teams and then use those to hand out the results.

BTW, the password is in the readme, but it changes each time until you activate it.

Cool, I was looking for something like this for a solo league. Tried some fictional story generators but was about ready to give up.

Agreed completely. It's terribly sad to think of the promise that game had that's gone to waste.

I guess the only draw back is that the program works ONLY with a 30 team MLB league.

Oh well, it was a good idea.

I dunno, maybe someone like Commish Jim or Pierre might be able to. I have no idea how hard it could be.

I made something like that for myself using an Excel workbook once. It worked on the same basic principle. I had three spreadsheets:

One contained a variety of possible occurances, mostly "nothing happens". To the left of each occurance was a randomly generated number.

The second contained numbers 1-25, again with a randomly generated number to the left.

The third contained a list of each team and two slots under it, with randomly generated numbers in two columns to the left. Using a "VLOOKUP" function, I had it use the two random columns on the left look up corresponding numbers on the other two sheets to produce both a player number and a result. Sometimes it was a team-wide result, in which case the player number was not relevant (i.e. stadium damaged in storm, must play first five games at alternate site).

It worked really well. If I were a programmer, I'd write it as a stand alone program, but alas I am not. If I can find the sheet, maybe I'll post it.

Hmmm, could you work something up like this for determining other events if you had the percentage probabilities?

I ask this because I recently calculated the chances of a player being drafted into military service in WWII, based on the real MLB rosters. For those who wanted to recreate the effects a war might have on team rosters, they now had some guiding percentages with which to apply to the players.

I detailed the results here http://www.400softwarestudios.com/bo...threadid=30553

It certainly would be another interesting event to add to the list of things that could happen...

I actually posted a version I found of it here:
http://www.400softwarestudios.com/bo...threadid=31143

It can get as detailed as something only happening one in every 250,000 times, so it could handle that.

If you're creative, it can work with less. If you have a 20 team league, only use the first 20 teams. If you have a player demandng a trade to one of the last 10 teams, you can just change the demand to either a team over .500 OR use a random number generator and randomly draw a team for him to demand it to.
