Facepack Idea or has this been done?
I am wanting a new facepack for my fictional leagues and I just was not happy with using real players or minor league guys because those guys already have a history and they could be famous some day you never know. Then I'd be stuck with some famous guy in my leagues. I was wondering how much work it would be to draw a facepack and how many faces would you need?
I want to do this, if anyone wants to help who knows more about setting the pics up for the game. I think I coudl draw some cool and maybe even funny pics for players and then everyone coule use thim in there leagues! Anyone interested in this??? |

I think someone already put a fairly substantial group of pics together. Just search the posts, I know it will come up.

I've looked and looked and I'm just not happy with them. I like the Killibrew ones and all but they are all real people. That just doesn't seem right its supposed to be fictional.

For what it's worth, I found some great Asian facepacks at the site of the Japanese Baseball League. Really good work, done, I think, with some program called FaceGen. I DL'd a bunch of them for one of my leagues.
I wish somebody would do the same style for Latin, Caucasian and African-American faces. That would be GREAT. The JBL facepacks contain some Caucasian and African-American faces; it would be great to have a lot more.

It generates faces? I have started on my photo pack and it is gonna take me awhile but I am liking the results! I just wish I had 800 more of this pics but it will be worth it in the end.

I've been looking for / thinking about doing the same thing for some time. I've never seen anyone else suggest or do this in the time I've been lurking around here. 800 does sound like a daunting number, and that's really why I've never attempted it.

I have only used photos for one year and found them to really help to relate to the players. I wish I had added them 2 years ago.
I have 20 fictional teams. I have used about 1600 of Killebrew's photos and am just beginning my 4th season. Fortunately, he has 2000 photos, so I'm ok for maybe 5 more years...only add about 60 players a year. I really like his photo pack...don't even mind the hat logos and jersey logos...someone has created a face pack and removed all logos (could be wrong, but I think it may be LivnLegend)...even if some of them get famous, it won't matter to me. I could use TigerFan's historical sets for a fictional league and be happy...I only know what some of the real legends look like and could just replace them with someone I don't know. I wouldn't know George Sisler, Bob Meusel, Waite Hoyt...some pretty good ballplayers...and I certainly don't know players like Billy Rogell, Baby Doll Jacobson, Hank Severeid and players like that. If you create you own photo pack, that would be great. Until then, you will be missing a nice element from the game. |

WEll guys Que the Monkey and me, Neburizachuber have started working on our new face pack and so far I am very happy with the results. This thing is going to take a long time to finish because as we are getting more and more into it we are finding that we are going for higher and higher standards on what is a good picture to represent the players in the game. This is a fun facepack with cartoon like graphics but I think some people might like it. That's all I am see fit to reveal about the face pack so far so we can have some suspense!
My eyes are about to fall out and hit the keyboard and Monkey logged out some time ago but we have about 75 of the pictures done. How many do we need? I think at least 800. It will take a long time but it will be worth it!! |

While we're presently in a good groove with these things, we're not yet settled on the final look of them, so we would not feel "right" showing anything off just yet.
Btw, Nebu's a work dog! He stayed up the whole night and is still going! With this kind of dedication, we should have this project done in no time. But, enough talk. Must get back to work.

Some more hints though. We are taking care to make them so you can use floodfill to change the uniform colors to match your team if you want. So whenever you get a new player on your team just open your favorite paint program and splat your team colors on your guy. The way we are drawing the pictures you should be able to do this very easily.

Maybe when we get closer to being well into the project we can release some previews. We are up to number 111 now and still not sure which ones we should keep in the set. We are getting better at doing them with practice I think this set is going to look really neat. Very different hopefully too.
