Penalty minutes unrealistic viewing games

Is it just me, or does it seem like penalty minutes are unrealistic when viewing a game? They seem ok when just simming. Is it my imagination?

It's your imagination, because the sim is the same either way.

Viewed and simmed games use the same game engine, the only differences in them would be lineup/tactical decisions you're making yourself when playing out a game vs. what the AI would do.

I just let the computer play, so that's not an issue
