MAC OS Hot Fix patch requires serial # -- where to find?

I bought on Mac/Apple Store. Should I try to apply the Hot Fix patch via Fastspring? I did and it asks for serial number/info but I'm not sure where to find this or if I'm doing this correctly. Please advise.

You need to wait for or download the App Store version. Fastsrping & eSellerate won't properly replace it. That's why it's asking for a serial #.

So how come OOTP Devs didn't include that in the instructions for the HotFix?
