Pittsburgh Pirates

Yes, they started 5-1 last season and went on to lose 89 games, but right now they are 4-0, and I don't think it's a fluke!

I'm not a Pirates fan by any means, as I am a Sox (the only good color, Red) fan, and never have cared about any other team.

I must say though, the Pirates are heading in the right direction. Unlike most of the "bottom of the pack" teams, the Pirates decided to change things. They signed veterans with experience! Both Reggie Sanders and Kenny Lofton have been in the WS (Lofton with 2 teams), and are definetely two of the better veterans you could get.

They also brought in a guy who just loves to play, and is one of the most under rated players out there: Randall Simon. This guy is a career .308 hitter, with almost 1000 at bats. People always said he'd fall off, but the guy can flat out hit. He's only 27, so he is at the point where his career will peak. Right now he is 6 for 12.

With the pitching staff, they did a great job. They didn't decide to throw 5 guys on the mound who have pitched a combined 6 games. They went with guys who have pitched before, and at one point or another have had some success. Kris Benson is a great starter, hampered with injuries. If he stays injury free, along with Jeff D'amico, the Pirates will have a quality season. They also brought Jeff Suppan, who can get the job done respectfully.

And this is why I say the Pirates win 90 games, and end their 10 season losing record streak! Of course they won't make the playoffs, as both the Astros and Cardinals will win at least 95.

Never know. This has been a pretty crazy start to baseball. Expos start 3-1, Pirates 4-0, Braves 1-3. Anything can happen this year, except for the Yankees not making the playoffs

I'll be cheering for Pittsburgh, I'd really like to see them turn it around this year (it sure has been a while)
