And we're talking trades that are lopsided
in favor of AI. Let me give an example.
I wanted to acquire a young starting pitcher with potential. I tried every variation of guys I'd be willing to give us within the parameters of a "fair deal" and no budge. It wasn't only the fact AI wouldn't accept the trade, but I noticed that any variation I put forward, even my best "godfather" deal was met with "You are kidding, right? I'd never accept this deal!" So I became curious and began to make the deal more and more lopsided until I presented the following (hypothetical) deal, which seemed like a no brainer:
I receive:
- 20-year old starter prospect w/ 79 potential (#5 prospect overall)
AI receives:
- 20-year old SS prospect w/ 77 potential (#9 prospect overall)
- 19-year old starter prospect w/ 73 potential (#30 prospect overall)
- 25-year old 3B with 64/70 ratings; on rookie contract
- 29-year old starter with 55/69 potential; two years left on contract that I would eat 100%
- 27-year old CF with 80/80 rating; five years on contract that I would eat 100%; two-time reigning MVP
- $10,000 in cash
A couple things to keep in mind: the AI team was in "WIN NOW!" mode and CF was a position of need (red), 3B and SP were yellow dot positions of need. Again, money isn't an issue because I'm eating every dollar.
And... "You are kidding, right? I'd never accept this deal!"
So I tried more variations. I swapped out my SP prospect in exchange for an 80/80 24-year old reliever on a rookie deal (RP was a need for them) and same results. Every possible comination I tried. "You are kidding, right? I'd never accept this deal!" Every time I clicked "Make This Work Now!" it was met with no results.
Am I going crazy here or would a GM be an absolute moron to not accept that deal? Keep in mind, I was never going to make the deal, I just wanted to see if I can get them to a place where they're even willing to discuss. What's going on? This doesn't seem realistic. I have trade difficulty at "Average" and preference set to "Neutral" so default settings.
