Improve at first base
December 2025, A group of Cuban players defected to the USA with the hopes of playing Major League Baseball. I offered and signed Jorge Contreras, a power hitting Left fielder, a Seven year deal; knowing full well that he would be 40 years old by the end of it. He took the last two years as vesting options, which I felt would protect my investment.
Now for what I didn't count on: Last May, his position rating at LF (65 when he was signed) dropped from 50 to 35. It progressively got worse (accompanied with a total loss of speed and baserunning), until it was 20. He was still a very valuable bat, so I figured moving him to 1B would minimize his defensive impact; luckily, my 1B, a youngster named Whitney Commo, was able to transition to LF. Despite being crowned the 2029 World Series MVP, and despite being a fan favorite, and the team "Leader", my owner wants me to improve the 1B position. I could easily put Commo back there, but then what do I do with Contreras, and by extension LF? Contreras vesting option means, if he gets 450 PA, he's automatically renewed. I cannot trade him, because he's pretty much a pure outcome hitter at this point (SO,BB,1B,HR). What would you do?

Ignore the owner's silly demand, or agitate for your league to adopt the designated hitter rule.

What’s your vesting like? Just pinch hit him and eat a year of contract.

Put Commo at 1B and use Contreras as a PH making sure that he does not vest. LF? Surely you have a kid somewhere...

Commo stayed in Left, because I got another first baseman. All the talent in my minor leagues is in the bullpen, or incredibly raw.

Some what related but have you noticed you can see the speed differences in the 3d animation now? Not sure if it was like this last year but watching my power hitter but 20 speed catcher try and chug out doubles is hilarious.

I would've "told" my owner to shove it

I've been wanting a way to respond to player, and owner emails for several versions now.
