Feeder Leagues
Hello I've experimenting with feeder leagues and been reading through all the feeder league discussions, and found that you cannot convert an existing league, say an independent one, to a feeder league. You need to create from scratch the feeder league; add a feeder league then transfer teams from the independent league into the feeder league. The reason I bring this up and wondered if anyone ever asked to see if it was technically possible for OOTP to add the ability to convert an existing league into a feeder league. A few issues concerning creating feeder leagues that I think if fixed/addressed, would go a long way to making a college feeder league "feel" like a college feeder league. 1) Cannot create a template that you can use when a new patch comes out with updated rosters. It would save the hassle of creating a large feeder league from scratch all over again, if you could create a template. This idea came about because I wanted to included the last patch rosters with updated draft picks and I could not see a way to include them into the college feeder league I was creating. 2) Another issue was regarding Associations and feeder leagues. You cannot add a created feeder league to an Association, for the purposes of creating a tournament. Thus I believe, having the NCAA leagues setup individually and tied into an Association gives you much more flexibility and ease in creating a more true college atmosphere when having a championship tournament, creating a college schedule for the leagues, and creating players with ratings that are more in line with the MLB. Thanks.

there are two types of feeder leagues. The ones that are directly tied to a parent league and show up right underneath the parent league. Those you are right you can not just make an existing league like that and have to take the steps you mentioned. Then there are independent feeder leagues. There is a setting where you can note that the players "feed" into another league you designate. The league then becomes a league the feeds it's players to another league but remains independent and does not show up under the parent league. You can take an existing league and make it an independent feeder league.
I use to run a lot of feeder leagues but ultimately they are more trouble then they are worth imho and they havent' been tweaked in years by ootp so that's another reason I don't run them. You can look up all past discussions on feeder leagues and what they say is still true because they haven't been tweaked. The scenario you mentioned is exactly how I set my independent feeder leagues like. if you do a search by my username you'll find some posts where I talk about college independent feeder leagues I had setup. I would love to create feeder leagues for a realistic approach for my own personal use but I'm not sure if the ones directly tied to the parent league accrue service time like the unaffiliated ones.

Feeders were never meant to emulate real life in any way. This is one aspect of the game that has not changed in... well forever I guess, I forget what features appear when after all these years but they have been the same since at least 10. They are a means to an end. They create a draft pool with a stat history that can be scouted and followed for multiple seasons. That is all they were ever meant to be.
