Post Pitchers Gaining Position Ratings?

I'm not sure if this is a bug (it's only happened once to me, I think), but I received an e-mail by my scout telling me that a pitcher in Double A had become better (e.g. became an E rating) at 3B. I don't believe I accidentally placed the pitcher in the minor league line-up (I always use the auto-lineup/ rotation for the minors).

Any ideas?

I have not seen that but at least 1 other poster has mentioned it and I know you can place pitchers in the minor league batting order.

I don't see it as a bug since it really has no impact at all except perhaps looking funny, plus maybe there is a side benefit if you have a good-hitting pitcher you want to give a new career direction for (ala the Babe). I suspect it is unintentional though, and based on the fact I have not yet seen it occur, probably only rare situations cause the pitcher to learn a defensive position on his own as you describe.
