Question Pitch count advice?

Depending on my prospect's age and stamina, I'll set his pitch count anywhere from 80-100. Does anyone have any kind of rule of thumb for how much to set? And when/how much to increase as they progress?

Taken from the v4 manual:

Duration Starter/Reliever
"A" rated pitchers can throw approximately 130 pitches during a game without tiring
"E" rated pitchers can throw approximately 90 pitches during a game without tiring

Duration Reliever
"A" rated pitchers can throw approximately 75 pitches during a game without tiring
"E" rated pitchers can throw approximately 35 pitches during a game without tiring

I'd say the B-D fall in-between the above, hope this helps.

I didn't think that applied to prospects. So there's no need to coddle their tender young arms?

Well I think that they can be used to this amount, I probably wouldn't overuse them or abuse them.

I usually set a prospects arm according to their age
So assume we have a SP with B range, 4 blue star prospect who makes the majors at 21

21yo - 85pitches
22yo - 95
23yo - 105
24 yo - i think is fully developed and can be taken of the pitch count

Steve, question for you...the numbers you listed I assume are based off modern day settings correct? I am doing a historical league and are i'm in 1912, using the correct settings for the time, and pitchers with B or even C ratings regularly pitch 140 pitches without tiring, and A guys, forget it, i've seen one throw 14 inning, 180pitches before tiring

In chance of injury related to age of pitcher/pitch counts now a factor in v5?

If not, whats the point of pitch counts?

So, Juggalo. Let's say your prospect doesn't hit the majors until he's 25. Does that mean you start him off with no pitch count? Or do you start him off at 85 and move up?

I know that we talked about having overuse of a pitcher tie into the chance of injury but I don't know for sure if that is the case or not.
