Remind Me To Never Do This Again

Got 19 installed!

So I decided to import the league I was running in '18.

Bad idea. Very very bad idea.

The game is doing something called, "Optimize teams transactions table". It's been doing this for well over and hour with no end in sight.

I will never try to import another league. This is ridiculous.

That shouldn't be happening. Must be a bug of some sort, but I haven't run into it before. I'll ping Matt and see if he has any ideas...

I will second this. I'm at 73800 "records done" if that provides any information

It took a while for me, too, but I'm ready now.

Now I'll try to find out what the game optimized

We moved some text files to a DB structure. I don't think it should have taken very long, but it's possible if you had a really large league that it could.

Yes, that's right- if you have a lot of transaction records in your saved game, it will need a long time. The more, the longer. For hugh leagues, you better let it run overnight.
It will save you ~45% of the transaction records. The database will be smaller and faster.
If your saved games used default settings ("Keep transaction logs for 2 years") you should not have too many transaction records.

I'm fine, with this as the tradeoff. Let it run.

Mine has been running for about three hours now. The thing that takes the longest so far is transferring each year's file. I have one more year to go.

Well, 99.999% of computer games don't allow you to transfer saved games from previous versions, so this is the trade-off I guess

If it needs too much time, stop OOTP (kill the process). Your original OOTP 18 saved game will not be damaged because it was copied in the first step. You would just have to start the import again.

That what I did. I just did a ctl alt del to get it to stop. I'm working on creating a new league. The old league was being imported just to have it, I didn't intend on continuing it.

I'm not complaining at all! Hopefully I did not come off that way. I was curious if it was a bug or not. I am perfectly fine with this trade-off. My game was a default MLB Standard game that had about 3 years under its belt and it took around 45 mins. to get everything transferred. It actually gave me an excuse to step away from my computer and get work done

well by using the power of common sense we can deduce that it is doing something with the transaction history and if you have it set to ALL then it obviously would take a while seeing as there would be years and years of every single teams transactions

I am having the same issue as C.B Dave, I am converting a long running league. I guess I'll just let it run.

About 5 minutes, but the league only has been in existence for 2 seasons ...

This was just a try to see how a "real" league shapes up instead of the MLB Quickstart

mine took me 4 hours to move to OOTP19 and had nearly 600,000 Transaction files it was working on then it would say (not responding) once it catches up (I guessing here) then it would be ready to play. As for me I like keeping the player transaction and I have been moving games up since OOTP13. Most years I do the move at night while sleeping and just makes sure laptop doesn't fall asleep when its doing this. Works every time its tried at least for me even with new laptop

My largest league was a 40 team league in it's 2nd year. Over 100,000 and took about 38 minutes. I timed it after reading what was happening here. Wasn't all that bad for me. My others went way faster. Is there a way to delete those transaction files BEFORE you copy over to 19?
