I just finished playing a historical league and wanted to try something different. Hoping you guys have some advice so I can avoid the more obvious mistakes. Here's what I want to do:
I want a relegation/promotion league with historical players entering the game at historical times. No draft (other than maybe the initial year) just free agency like how European soccer leagues do it.
I'd like it to develop "organically," like this: I'd start with an 8-team league based in the east coast. When the player pool is large enough, I'll add an 8-team league in the Midwest. At some point, I'll move the best 4 teams from each into a Premier League with western and eastern divisions, with relegation back to the two leagues below. (I'd add more leagues as the player pools increase, and increase the number of teams in each league, too.)
Can that work? I've experimented with importing historical players into a custom league using
these guidelines and it works, but I have to keep doing it every year, which seems like it will get cumbersome in later years when there are a lot more players. I'm also not sure if I can get minor leaguers into the game that way.
Thanks for any advice you folks have.
