Advanced Setup Question

If someone could tell me if I understand these two buttons correctly, I'd really appreciate it as the tooltips are a bit confusing and the manual doesn't help.

Recalculate Totals: Using the currently selected era, the game will recalculate the league totals using the previous years results.

This will keep year-to-year numbers in the same ball-park (sorry, bad pun!) if you click this button at the start of the season, correct? Also, this does not take player ratings into account, so a statistical outlier could still deviate quite a bit, correct?

Recalculate for historical accuracy: Using the currently selected era, AND player ratings, the game will recalculate the league totals using the previous years results.

This is where I'm having a bit of trouble. Does this mean that if I've selected the deadball era, and I have a player with a HR rating of 10, this will more or less force that player to hit around the league high for that era, around 10-15? Wouldn't that happen with the first button as well?

If anyone could shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it.

I don't know for sure what the difference is supposed to be, but I can tell you what it did in my historical league. In OOTP4 I would hit the Recalculate Totals after about every year, so I did that after my first year in 1902. The following year had Claude Pankey hit 84 homeruns to lead the league, and several other players had 50 or more. I wasn't happy with those results because I was looking for at least a somewhat accurate representation of the era that I'm in. So, I restarted a historical league, and after 1901 I hit the Recalculate for historical accuracy button and have hit that at the start of each year since. Nobody has hit more than 20 in this league. So, I would say you are right in saying that if you select the deadball era the league high will be somewhere in the 10-15 range, but that's just from my limited experience.
