Draft Pool
Anyone know how to make a player go into the draft pool? There's a player who decided to stay in college in my fictional league and I want to have him join the draft pool that was just announced

it's part of the ui that opens when you create a player -- add to free agent list or add to draft list? or maybe that's dependent on where you 'create'? etc.. likely a checkbox or soemthing else that could easily be missed.
unless it changed from recent releases. |

Yes I know that it is there, but I'm talking about an already established player. One that has been in college a year or two. I have one in my college feeder league that projects to 94/84/99/51/80 and is already 36/41/40/29/36 and is 20 years old. I feel like he should be coming into the draft this year, but he didn't

oh, well we can edit draft pools now, so maybe replace an existing dud with that player in the exported file and import back into game. i haven't seen the format of the export... not sure if you can just add a line at end (or beginning for that matter)... trial and error if you want to try that first. use a backup for safety. i haven't played around with this feature, yet. so, the details are a bit up in air but limited by context to a few things.
or, some version of that... even if it might lead to deleting a duplicate, but i don't think that'll be necessary. if it 's just a playerID and some misc columns related to draft, it'll be easy enough. rDB? multiple tables involved? exported file: so look for anything pesonal to the player to replace from your intended player. obviously playerID will defintiely be there. if it shows dob or weight etc, i'd replace that, just in case... if multiple tables invovled, misc info is pulled by the primary key (playerID) and it liekly doesn't matter in some contexts. once you exhaust anything related that you can see in the GUI, this will definitely work. That sounds very daunting. I would be almost sure to mess it up. If that's the only option, I guess I'll just have to wait for him to come into the draft

you should just export the current draft pool and take a look... i know there are threads that can help you even if not exactly what you are doing.
if it looks greek, then maybe not. you need more specific steps than the generalizations that i can provide... the other threads will help too. export draft site:http://www.ootpdevelopments.com i'd leave out 'list' or 'pool' because people may use both.. if not specific results at top, then add 'pool' or 'list' -- google usually does well with synonyms/equivalent words but i'm not so sure about those 2 words specifically. |

I think I have a workaround that will go. My guess is you want the player and his stats from high school in the game, otherwise you could just redo the stats of any player in the draft and delete the first guy. If you want that original player then... In commissioner mode Create a new player or rename a junk player from the current player pool the name of your guy. Give him the exact same ratings as the player you want in the edit screen. Ie you have made a near perfect copy of the player in the draft. Allow that recreated player to be drafted. At the end of the draft he will be on minor league team X. Now delete the new player on minor league team X. Now move the player you want, to that minor league team. And there he is, on a team that did draft "him" albeit a copy, but it is just like he has been drafted. He wont show up on the team\s draft screen (as that player was deleted) but you can edit the history of your real guy to let you know what round he went in. Hope that helps |
