Historical League Finances

So I'm still fairly new to playing historical games. I started a season in Challenge Mode with the 2005 Cardinals and I noticed that every team is already in debt. The owners won't allow any trades unless the money is even and you can't offer any contact extensions/free agent contracts. Also, some of the contracts are ridiculous... For instance, Jim Edmonds is making $40mill a year through 2008. How do I fix this to make the game more playable?

Seems like your financials are messed up some how. Like the league is operating on 2005 revenue but the salaries are set for 2018.

Go to league settings then financials and post a screen shot

That's what I'm trying to find out. It's making the game unplayable on challenge mode bc every team has ridiculous contracts like that. No teams are able to make trade/sign free agents due to high payrolls.

Update: This problem persists in every historical sim that I try to play. No teams are able to make trades/sign free agents because they have no room financially. I'd like to get this fixed so I can actually run a smooth historical sim.

I know I've been bumping this thread, but I'd really like some help if I could get some.

I'll try to reproduce this here, but at first sight this part of the game has not changed in a while... that Jim Edmonds contract does seem weird though, maybe some sort of bidding war escalated.

OK, I can reproduce the problem with most teams being in the red when importing 2005. So, we'll tweak this for the next patch, which should arrive pretty soon.
