Custom League Questions
Hi,
I want to describe what I'd like to do in this game and let you tell me if it can be done. I'd like to create a custom league with all custom teams. I want to create all of the players too, including setting their ratings/stats. I'd also like to be able to do this without dealing with salaries, finances, farm systems, and so forth. I might like to run multiple seasons, but without the players aging and no need for a rookie draft each season. Is this game for me? |

You can create a custom league and edit all of the existing players to your liking. Or you can delete all of the existing players and create individual players in the Free Agent screen but it will take you forever and a day to do either. You can have no minors, no draft and turn off the financials, but you can't stop players from aging unless you just keep replaying the same season over and over. I don't know what your goal is with this. If the rosters never change and players don't develop for better or worse with age you'll get pretty much the same result every season.

I've done basically the same thing that I described in another PC baseball game, but it was more arcade style where I was controlling the players manually. It also had a lot of different difficulty settings that I would adjust up and down depending on whether or not I won the previous game. In that scenario, it didn't matter as much that the players ratings didn't change, as even a weaker team could be difficult to beat at the highest difficulty level. I can see that in a more hardcore sim like OOTP 19, it could get monotonous after a while if I set it up so the players ratings never change. I see now that I should let aging and all other factors that are built into the game affect my players. |

To provide some more insight into what I'm doing, I like to make up the roster of the team that I control from family members and friends. I make the other teams from what might sound like unusual sources. In the past in another game, the teams included a team of pro wrestlers, a team of Nascar drivers, a team of basketball players, a team of Andy Griffith Show characters, a team of characters from the Wild West, and a team with players named after carnival rides. But that was in a more arcade-style game. It might sound strange to do it in a baseball sim like OOTP, but I thought I might give it a try.

Turn off the things you dont want Put yourself in Commish mode or even God mode to control all teams Create your players and edit their ratings as you see fit. i edit all incoming rookies for my EBL league and every January edit all the players i have stats for. You can clone real players and change their names as well. Clark Kent is Barry Bonds but as a better CF. Players will age. i do not know of anyway around that but you can set age limits for your league In a test league i have a 900 yo Yoda. thru 5 seasons he is a lifetime .343 hitter averaging over 120 SB 3 GG so far. in an old OOTP league I started my career at 24 and retired at age 65. I had over 900 Wins in a 90 game schedule pitching every other game.
