Is there a way to speed up Auto-Play w/ multiple leagues enabled?

Right now, I have the default MLB, Nippon, and the 6 US Independent leagues enabled. With those leagues enabled, comes a lot of lag in Auto-Play and navigating through the game, in general; like a slight delay when moving from screen to screen and clicking buttons. It's around 3x slower than when I have only MLB enabled.

I'm 100% positive it's not my computer, as it meets both the minimum and recommended system requirements to run OOTP at Can You Run It.

So is there anything I could do to reduce the lag in menus and Auto-Play, via changing options or otherwise?

Sounds like it's your computer.

It IS running the program, just not as fast as you would like it. The more complex the league, the more resources required to run the game.

One thing you could try:

If you have an antivirus program running, see if you can exclude the OOTP directories. OOTP generates a TON of text and html files every time a game is simmed, so if your antivirus is actively scanning each of these, it can really add to the processing time.

Select low detail for all the other leagues and their minors. Turn off almanac, baseball cards pics for non MLB players.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I tried them all w/ no luck... but after thinking about it some more and further testing, I believe the age/pro service limits I had set for the minors may be the culprit.

In an MLB-only league without limits, it takes 20 seconds to sim 1 week.

In an MLB-only league with limits, it takes 40-45 seconds

In the league I'm in now (MLB, Nippon, US Indy's) with limits, it takes about 1 minute or more.

So yeah, it seems I forgot to take the extra AI milling from the limits set into consideration. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The more rules and limitations, the longer the sim. And my usual comments:
-Game logs, box scores, replays, recaps all take a long time. So turn them off for any leagues you don't care about
-Finances take a long time. While the indy leagues ship with financials, you may want to simply disable them for those leagues
-Trading is another big time-sink. It may be worth disabling trading, or at the very least set it to the lowest setting.
-BB cards obviously take a lot of time too, but that's a global setting
-Any roster moves take time. So, for example, running the *** with its minor league vs running just an *** with a reserve roster can also have a significant time to it. Especially if there are other roster rules (waivers, 40-man, rule 5, etc...)

Two things:

if you have the international and majors set with financials on how do the indy leagues work if their financials are off during the FA period? I'm hoping they won't be stealing quality players from majors and international since they dont have to worry about paying them. Plus how do you get movement going in the indys if they have no contract to set them free? Wouldn't you then have players playing for the same team until their skills diminish enough that the AI chooses to replace them when they are much older?

Finally I do echo the statement to use reserves for international leagues. I use to have minors on for international but its' just not worth it because the AI isnt' the best for how it handles signing foreign players and assigning them to their minors because of foreign limits especially Americans that have much better ratings than the natives.

Maybe the same system as MiL contract offers work? I'd also like a little more clarification to this, as well...

Considering I already have Nippon's minor league enabled, how would I go about changing their minors to a reserve roster instead? Can I even do that w/o starting a new league or running into complications? Because if I simply delete the Nippon MiL league, it'll send all the players to the FA list and I don't want that...

All I can say is....

I ran a league once where it was about 40 international leagues combined with the full Quickstart once.... it took ten minutes to sim one day on 18 compared to 30 that it took on 17... It took the fun out of playing, so I killed the fake world 40 leagues.

It takes maybe a minute to sim a day on the full quickstart and I have no problems with that. When we say its your PC, trust us, and me (for being the IT guy), that it is your PC.

first, make a backup.

you'll probably have a ton of excess players but, yes you can just change the settings for that league. go to league settings - financials, then select the NBL or whatever. -- is it in that settings page? you get the idea.

now, what to do with excess players... ignore, delete etc.. ignoring should be fine, btw. but if it bothers you, the backup is going to be neccessary if you try something and it doesn't work out well.

side note,

i have all mil leagues ending on same exact day. it bogs my system down about twice as long as sept 1st callups.... Staggering things like that can help spread out the wait time.

all the stuff matt said plus:

playoffs in minors matter to you? if not turn off.
low detail mentioned for any non-important league.
awards in minors? meh to me.

anything like that you can think of. stuff you like in ML level but not below. anythign involving generating pictures or graphics... make that stuff on demand or not at all.

---

had no idea bout the service time and age rules caused that much drag. may have to rethink that stuff and just bomb mil with over sufficient # of players.

I'm in the process of disabling all financials for the 6 US Indy leagues and see if that helps. Gonna take it one step at a time for now.

One other question I had: What exactly does the Stats Detail setting do? What's the difference between each setting?
