Looking For MLB Record Breakers Info

Hey guys!

Technically this might not be the right forum ,so apologies for that, but thought it might be a bit more visible here than in say Talk Sports.

I'm looking for some info on MLB records and when they were broken and what the progression of record breaking seasons was.

Does anyone know a good place to find that info?

Obviously I can just get the season leaders from B-Ref and go year by year to see what the records were/when they were broken, but was hoping for an easier and quicker way.

Actually, B-Ref has you covered there too, if I'm understanding you right:

Scroll a bit down on the page and there are links to progressive leaderboards for a whole bunch of things.

Does anyone know if it's possible to customize those progressive record breaker lists to include/exclude a certain range of seasons?

I'm not seeing how to d it, but that could just be because I don't know what I'm doing

I don't see a way to do it on the site but i could probably whip something up in excel if you need certain years excluded.

Can just use the play index on bbref to search specifically for certain years or for AL/NL-only. Thanks for the offer, though

I don't believe the play index works with the progressive leader-boards.

I think you can do what Lukas is asking for to some extent within tableau. I used the running total function and applied a year filter, and while you don't get a table as nice as what BBRef can provide, you can still get a visual of when records are broken and by who.

Couldn't you also do a text graph (I forget what the term is under "show me") of Years along the column and leading names beside that then have a filter on to exclude the years you don't want (or a parameter)?

Is this what you mean? And yeah they are called text tables.
