Fictional/Historical Help
Hello, I know it is possible to have a league with historical players in a fictional league, but is it possible for me to select which players I want? I can only find a way where teams are populated with a random generation of historical players. Is there a way I could pick to have Babe Ruth 1921 with Reggie Jackson 1978 and Alan Trammel 1984? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks |

i believe you would have to import them manually. you could create a text file for each year, or team and import them that way. but to populate a whole league year after year with players of varied years would be quite a chore - and very very time consuming. However, it is possible if you are willing to put in the time and effort to get the players IDs and the years you wanted them in the game, creating a text file, and importing year by year. (player IDs are column B in the .csv file and their debut years are in column AA or there abouts.)

Thank you for the help. I am computer illiterate, but have the patience and drive for a mind numbing task to give it a go. Could you tell me what folder I might find player IDs? As well as any other folders I might need access to?
Thanks |

The player IDs are in alphabetical order. Column B is the player ID's #. Column Z or AA can't recall exactly and not at my game computer) is their debut year. (i open and read these files with Apache Open Office - spreadsheet- a free program.) i make a copy of the .csv file - and i only use that copy to extract Ids and do any searching. i create a folder - called "Players to manually import" and put that folder in the stats folder. You'd have to make a list of what players you want to import and whatever year you want (best year? debut year?). Then you'd need to hunt for each players name. (There is a search function within the program, but it only can use one name (not Willie Mays, only Willie or Mays - so you'll get to ton of each name until you find the right one - or you can scroll down to the "mays" and locate him that way ... you'll see the player IDs are sort of cryptic but basically they are first few letters of last name, then a couple letters of first name and a couple of numbers.) Once you find the correct person, copy their player ID and the historical year of their career you want the game to enter them. So for Willie Mays it may be 1954, for Ruth maybe 1927 .... etc.) below is a what derek jeter, mickey mantle and lou gehrig's player Ids and peak year mnight look like in the .txt file you're creating ... jeterde01, 1999 mantlemi01, 1957 gehrilo01, 1927 i then paste those into a notepad (well, i use Notepad ++ - it's free). After that, i add a comma a space and then the year ..... manually after each name. (see above example). Once i've done the entire list, i save that under a file name - say if you want all these random players to begin play in 2014. "Players to import for 2014" as the file name within the Players to Import folder. you'll need to do that for every year you want to import. Once the year is done, when you are ready to import into the game, you go to the Free Agent Page, functions, and in the drop down menu click "import historical Players". Type in the year (2014) on the last line (leaving name and ID line (1st line) empty. Click the database, then also historical minors. At that point, a line (in blue i think) appears and asks you where or what file you want to import. you'll have to click that and then locate the file "Players to manually Import" - which is in your stats folder now, and then open that and select the correct file (which should be listed by the names you gave them ....)The other selections are your preference, but be certain to check line that asks if you want them in the draft or Free Agent Pool. that's a crude snap shot of what is needed. hope it's of some help. If it's not clear or you need some specific assistance in making this list, shoot me a PM, as i might not catch an update on this thread right away. (i've not done a text file in this specific manner, but the theory and concept of it is basic once you get the drift of what you need to get into that file.) Good luck.
