How Does 19 Handle 2 Way Players?

I thought someone mentioned a setting somewhere but I didnt see it when i created my Illinois Baseball league under Advanced options. I have a non DH league and want myself (on steroids) and other P to be ok hitters that can play the field.

Not well, IMHO. I turned them off. It will put a P in at 3B despite the fact that his 3B ratings are horrible, and he would never be on an MLB roster based on his 3B stats alone.

First, the problem Critical Mass mentioned can be fixed by turning off two-way and fixing the player at a specific position. Though I do agree that the game needs either higher or adjustable thresholds as to what it considers viable pitching or hitting ability.

Overall, I'd say the two-way support is not bad at all. There's definite room for improvement, but it works, and two-way players in this game are a lot of fun (and maybe overpowered).

I currently have one guy on my MLB roster and a few marginal guys in the minors (several of whom I shouldn't have drafted, because someone who is good at hitting or pitching is better than a guy who is mediocre at both -- just another school of hard knocks for me as a newbie). The guy on my roster is Michael Lorenzen, and he provides a lot of flexibility in one roster slot. He can pitch middle relief, his hitting isn't bad, he has a bit of pop, fielding is bad but he has a good outfield arm, and he can even run decently. I will sometimes warm him up when the pitcher slot is coming up, then pitch hit with him and keep him in as the pitcher. He's also a "one-man double switch" because if he's on the mound but he's done, I can move him to the outfield when I bring in a new pitcher (not generally if the game is close).

The game does a good job of keeping track of fatigue separately for the "sides" and giving you pretty good flexibility with them. A few issues that still need to be dealt with:

1. Scouts don't understand these guys very well. They won't report on both sides of the equation, only the primary. This includes development reports, so it is hard to see what's changing.

2. It's unclear how much development occurs on the "secondary" side.

3. It's unclear how well AI GMs assess these guys. My guess is that this isn't well developed yet.

4. The minor league managers can use them oddly. You can force a role but only on one side -- you can't, for example, make a minor league manager use a guy in the rotation and also force him to play a position on other days, or do what Ohtani is doing IRL now.

5. There are a few small omissions. For example, if you have a guy in the field and want to bring him in to pitch, there's no way to warm him up between innings.

Overall though, they are lots of fun.

Not exactly what you are asking for but I've been on a graph spree lately and I think this is somewhat related.

Over the course of the league I am taking data from there have been about 22,500 major league players, and this graph displays all of them. Of those players, I highlighted the 35 that I would deem quality two-way players (batting and pitching WAR greater than 10). In my league that would mean every one player out of ~650 is a quality two-way player.
