Pete Rose Book
I went to the library and took out a book on Rose from 2014 called Pete Rose An American Dilemma. A real good book especially the career of his son in the minor leagues for over 20 years.
Talks about his career, hof, and a lot of players from the Reds. Easy read as well. |

Reading this currently actually. Should finish it tonight. Pretty good, I enjoy it as someone who was too young to ever see Pete Rose play

Yes, and some of the minor league stats he accumulated is mind boggling, almost 2000 hits. I think he's managing somewhere?

Junior played for the Long Island Ducks near me, batting .342 in 2007 on a team that also had Edgardo Alfonzo, Carl Everett and Jose Offerman among about 20 other ex Major league players. I remember watching Sportscenter the night he got his first MLB hit. He used his bat to dig 4,256 into the dirt to honor his pops.
Funny how Pete Rose son wasn't good enough for the Majors, but then a Clay Bellingers son lights the league on fire. |

I assume this is a book ABOUT Pete Rose and not BY Pete Rose.
I read a (the?) book by Pete Rose, which was surely written down by someone else. Spoiler alert... he didn't do it. I'll look for this book about Pete Jr., I didn't realize he knocked around that long. I remember him in my High Heat 2k1 game though.

I might have a look. Can't recall the title but about 8 years ago read a book written about the Brooklyn Dodgers. Covered their entire history from the purchase of the land for the first stadium to their eventual relocation. Lots of detail about the management and Branch Rickey, the players and their personalities and even short snippets on individual fans. I picked it up when I was bored and ended up not being able to put it down. Made me a fan of behind the scenes baseball books.

The book jumps around quite a bit. I thought it was a good book. The book on the Dodgers, Brooklyn Remembered, the 1955 days of the Dodgers by Maury Allen?

Tough guy on the interweb. Who cares what you think. With a snotty remark like that maybe you should use the name I'm Perfect.
![]() Yes he's a criminal but in the big picture he didn't kill or physically injure anyone. Many people get convicted of tax evasion. Many more don't get caught or have good lawyers and some even get elected. Who knows, you may work with criminals. Do you ask people directly?

If Barry Bonds can make the HOF ballot, Pete Rose should get his chance too. At least he wasn't a cheater... just sayin'.

you dna has a ton of stuff that's basically dormant. it all gets jumbled up each time a gamete divides. (meoisis, not mitosis - mitosis is a cloned cell). so, every egg and every swimmer (avoiding censor) is a bit different. there is a finite number of combinations possible, but not sure if you produce enough in lifetime to have 2 exactly alike.... then of course, that's only 1/2 of the genetic material that is used in an offspring.. blame mom. JK then you have factors like the epigenome... basically if you live a healthy life you pass down better genes. if you do a ton of stupid things related to your body, you will have weaker offspring than you should. hence, the average american is shorter in the last few generations than the previous generations that were getting taller over time... we have reversed that trend, most likely due to a poor diet and overall health compared to previous generations. |
