Basic Question About OOTP

Hi there,

I'm doing research on this game, and was interested to know if there's a player creation tool? I know that players can be customized in a variety of ways, but can I completely create a player all the way down to his ratings? I had games when I was much younger that included the capability to build a player from scratch. I'm hoping the answer is yes, because in every other way, this game looks exactly like what I'm looking for.

While there isn't a player creation tool, there is a player editor where you can modify most/all of their ratings, both current and potential. That should give you what you are looking for.

Below is a portion of the editor screen (for a player in my fictional league that sucks )

Cheers!

I believe you can create a player. You can certainly clone a player and the edit all his attributes to your liking before putting him into the game.

sure. you can create a player. free agent page - create a fictional player in the drop down menu. you can also clone Ruth, Mantle and DiMaggio if you want. or create Joe Schlabotnik to be the next A-Rod. Or add your 10th grade Math teacher to be your closer.

notice the button available too.. you can type in stats and create ratings from the stats.

* note that it isn't necesarily stats for your league settings (stats and ai settings). but, you can use existing players estimated stats to have a good idea about how they will translate to your league (assuming a track record on those guys in your league and not year 1 of a fictional league)

if you normally see a few less hr than what the editor predicts, you should expect the stats in the profile to be a bit inflated for HR.. or vice versa... type in stats according to that translation. pump up the hr a bit above what you'll actually see, because that's how it works for your league.. (or reduce if the opposite context is the norm)

when you create a new player in a mlb list - free agent or list all.. "available actions" not sure whic pages it is and isn't availble..

anyway... you can select a class of player - legend, all star, etc.. i don't know the exact labels by rote... but you can also use that as a spring board and adjust as you want.

i sometimes will make ~10 and pick the best for my first year cornerstone player, then delete the rest. a guy i will keep until he retires and see what kind of maximized career stats i can generate.
