Tips for speeding up season simming?
Anyone know of tips (options to enable/disable, settings, etc.) to sim thru seasons in a relatively speedy way?
I'm playing an MLB league with full MiLB system (fictional players though). No feeder leagues or parallel major leagues or anything. Anyway, I'm noticing trying to sim through seasons that the sim hangs for long minutes on "Clearing Schedule"... it can sit there for close to 10 minutes trying to get through whatever 'clearing' is taking place before the sim resumes. Thing is, it does this multiple times in the course of a season (not sure why it has to clear schedules more than once or maybe twice). Anyone else experiencing this? And anyone know what might be the cause of the long delays "Clearing Schedule" is creating? |

I wish baseball cards were defaulted to off. I think it might be my biggest pet peeve.

turn off all asthetic stuff-- facegen, baseball cards, etc
if it's for research purposes, turn off awards -- for mil too. reduce tracked stats in all mils to very low (stats and ai settings) - probabyl want very high for ML. news, boxscores etc.. disable it all, keep none. disable hof voting. make anything "on demand" that you can.. that means it won't be produced while simming. spring training predictions and prospect rankings to yearly are a couple examples of this. (don't have anythign compiling each day like prospect lists) compromises to anything liek boxscores can be made.. some things are rebuilt with other things... so you only need the stuff that can rebuild other things. disable playoffs in MiL (or ml?) you get the idea.. simply look over the settings and make some choices as to what oyu like or can live without.. and if for research purposes, go bare-bones and save it as a template during game creation, preferably, but after it is created cna work too. you'll just get the same initial players each time if you make the template after creation. you can delte and re-fill so, there are options to avoid that too. The most expensive functions (not necessarily in order, will vary a lot between leagues)
-Baseball cards -Trading -Box scores/Game Logs/Replays/Highlights -Anything else involving roster decisions (waivers, or generally speaking finances) -Anything that sims in the background, so preseason predictions, league modifier calculations, etc... I'm not sure exactly what the clearing schedules would be - my guess would be that the minor leagues each when they start have to regenerate schedules, if the league expanded or something. It's possible it's doing something else as well, but we maybe didn't update the text on there. So maybe it clears the schedule, generates a new one, and then it goes into calculating the league total modifiers, but maybe we forgot to update the text on there. |
