O’s

I know this has been addressed a few times, but my God they are bad. I am playing pitch by pitch and rebuilding this team, but the pitching is so horrible it's not even funny. Any lead I have is going to evaporate at any given time and I'm controlling my staff while the manager controlled my lineup, but heck they can't have either. I will be severely lucky to win 50 games. Luckily the draft picks I was able to acquire from training Manny, Jones, and Zach will help rebuild my farm system. This is a five-year rebuild keeping my budget right around 120 million. Wish me luck and a lot of alcohol through this process.

I just started a second league (am doing an International one as well) and decided to pick Baltimore. Are you ever right! I honestly don't know where to begin My owner wants me to have a winning season and get Machado to sign an extension. I think I'm in for a short stay!

Played the first game and lost 6-2 to Minnesota.

i have simmed 2 different sims with the Orioles so far. the first one i was fired in season 4. the 2nd one i have survived to season 8 (and still going). the O's are terrible early on with overpriced veterans, that make it hard to improve. Then, by the time you are finally out from under those contracts your team has been so mediocre for so long that your budget is too low that it is hard to improve the team. At least i think there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Focus on getting groundball pitchers. Any flyball or neutral gb/fb arm will get scorched in Camden Yards.

Oh yeah, take a look at the 2001 dimensions at OPACY. You can edit the ballpark to these dimensions, and then go to ESPN or Baseball Reference to get the home run and doubles ratio for the ballpark in that year. It's not a panacea, but it does help a little.

Here is what Orioles.com has to say about the dimensions that year:

Prior to the 2001 season, in conjunction with extensive renovations to the ballpark's playing surface and drainage system, the Orioles reconfigured the ballpark with outfield dimensions that were up to 7 feet larger than those used since Camden Yards opened in 1992. However, it was found that the new dimensions did not significantly improve sight lines for fans, as had been anticipated, and adversely affected the viewing angle of the batter's eye wall.

As a result, the ballpark was returned to its original dimensions before the 2002 season. The changes included moving home plate approximately seven feet closer to the outfield, to its original spot 59 feet from the backstop. In addition, the entire field was shifted several degrees to the first base side and both the left field and right field foul poles were repositioned to their original locations. The foul line measurements decreased from 320 feet to 318 feet in right field and from 337 to 333 feet in left field. The center field distance decreased from 406 to 400 feet and the deepest part of the ballpark, in left center field, decreased from 417 to 410 feet.

Pitch by pitch mode.. my goodness I'm hitting the Scotch on one pitch mode after struggling through a 2 week slump. Good luck and god speed on that project.

When I finally become a winning team it will be worth it, but at this rate OOTP 25 will be out before the O's get good on this game 😂😂

After my second game (a 6-5 win) I got news that the owner sadly died.

A change of goals as his son takes over..

Reach the play offs this season!!
Improve your OBA this season
Acquire a Great Glove award winner!
Reach the word series in the next 4 seasons!
Sign Machado to an extension.
Upgrade at Right Field this season

On the bright side he's lenient and charitable, on the down side he's meddling, his priority is profit and despite his father just dying his mood is ecstatic!
