The Improved AI
I like to import historical players to mix in with the current MLB players. Prior to the Fantasy Draft I import whole historical teams as well as a few dozen stars from the past. Once free agency begins each year, I'll import some historical guys starting with their rookie year.
In many cases, because of the era in which these historical players are from, the hitters are low on home run power and the pitchers aren't big strike out guys. In previous versions of OOTP the AI greatly undervalued these types of players. As a result, signing these players was relatively easy. They also tended to be available in the Initial Draft. Not any more. With the greatly improved AI, historical players are being properly valued. A pitcher who may not strike out even a 100 batters in a season but won't give up home runs and is otherwise simply hard to reach base against is being valued for the ace he is. A speedy .340 hitter who won't hit more than 10 home runs but will steal 40 bases and hit 15 triples is as valuable now as a modern 200K/50 HR guy. As much as I liked in the past when the AI undervalued historical players making them relatively easy for me to acquire, the fun is the challenge. Running a 110 win World Series champion team is actually kind of boring. Kudos to the team who developed the AI. ![]()

I agree. I am finding it difficult to win in my historical league this time, much less dominate. The AI much smarter about trades and managing its roster.
