Retain modifications to lineups for AI-controlled teams
The thread I started by asking about Sabermetrics and particularly having the pitcher hit in the number 8 spot turned out to move onto a debate of a different flavor, so I though I'd post a more specific question.
I discovered that because I play in commissioner mode, I can modify an AI-controlled team's lineups (e.g., CHC and WSH) so that the pitcher hits in the number 9 spot (which seems to be what is actually happening with these MLB teams). But when I go back to check that my settings have been retained in these teams' lineups, I find that sometimes they have reverted back to having the pitcher bat 8th. Is there some step that I need to take so that the changes I make are retained? |

Press both "Set all teams to not allow AI roster changes" and "Set all teams to controlled by (Your Name)". I've never actually tried it, but I think it should work. |

the not allow roster changes checkbox is probably more than what you want.. you'd have to do every single things for all teams. you can't even delegate.
create 29 more human GM's and assign them to the teams, then set them to delegate 100% of all things to the agm, manager and mil managers etc... except what you want to control. uncheck lineups/depth chart.. you can still "ask gm for depth chart" on that depth chart screen's available actions, but you can then move the pitcher to the nineth slot. i think controlling injuries is a seperate delegation in the manager office? so, you shoudln't have to re-do this often, but doubel check for when somethign causes you to do so. gm legacy mode is also going to be needed (global settings) this will prevent a controlling or very successful manager from overriding your depth chart modification. |

Thanks, but I think both of these approaches are more than I want to do. In OOTP 18, I solved the problem by changing the manager's style from Sabermetric to something else. I'll probably wind up doing something like that again this time.

there were two threads like this recently.. i skipped that suggestion here, lol... oops.
ai evaluation tab under Global settings -- lineup tradittional vs sabermetric.. you may need to push the button to redo coach and gm sliders.. not sure if that's only tied to the ratings/stats weights. i thought that mostly changed the #2 spot in order.. didn't realize it was such a profound effect with where the pitchers are. |
