generate a 162 game schedule without interleague play

i am not a big interleague fan. so when i try to turn off interleague play and generate a new schedule, i get a 154 game schedule even though a 162 game schedule is requested. is there a setting that i am missing or is that a weakness of the schedule generator?

do you have use balanced schedule format? Some setting work with this, others do not. try it both ways.
a good place to look for a schedule is in the Mods section. There you will find custom made schedules that fit just about every set-up. Of course, you can only generate and change a schedule in the off-season, or pre-season. Can't recall which right off.
Good luck.

when you go to this section of this forums you can look around as you WILL find a few 162 no interleague setups as I think this would greatly help you in what you desire.,

I would suggest making it a 14-team/16-team setup again, or add two teams to the league to bring it up to 16-teams in each league. You need an even number of teams in each league in order to play properly without interleague. If you do go to a 14-team/16-team setup, I have a schedule for you (provided you don't mind every team having the same off-days of course - it's the easiest way to do it, and that works for me ).

i actually just managed to get a 162 game schedule by scheduling a 173 game schedule and not using the balanced scheduler. it does schedule games about 10 days into october which could make for some cold playoff games. can games get snowed out? i will try it out again tomorrow when the new game comes out and see if i can generate a 162 game schedule consistently.

Are you trying to generate a schedule using the current MLB format? If so, you're going to run into a lot of problems with the in-game schedule creator. It doesn't handle leagues with an odd number of teams very well.

It's like the old joke about the patient who walks into a doctor's office and says "doc, it hurts when I do this." The doctor replies, "don't do that." If you want to run a league with an odd number of teams and an in-game generated schedule, my advice is: don't do that.

that is exactly what i am trying to do. and it is causing a lot of problems as you suggest. my 173 game schedule that i posted above after looking a little deeper at it works for 1 team but not the next. so it isn't any good either. are you suggesting that if i expand the league by 1 team each the scheduler will have a better chance of creating 162 game schedule without interleague play?

However you make it so that there's an even number of teams in each sub-leagues would work for what you're trying to do. The obvious issue with an odd number of teams in each sub-league is that you have to have one interleague game per day, and you don't want that, so you're kinda stuck. I hate interleague too, but you won't see me trying to wrestle with an odd number of teams in each sub-league and no interleague. I know futility when I see it, and that sir, is futility.

Just add eight games to each teams schedule.

It would certainly be much easier to generate a schedule for a 16-team league than a 15-team league. There's one schedule out there that does what you want - two 15-team leagues with no interleague play - but even there the author of that schedule admitted that it is flawed.

i think a 16 team league is what i will be my next attempt, and something productive to try while waiting for an email.
