Luxury Tax question....does OOTP adhere to new CBA rules?
With all the talk about teams IRL trying to get under the "cap" this year to reset their penalties, was looking around in OOTP and couldn't find if the same type of incremental penalty increase was possible. Anyone know? Or is it just a flat 20% like it was in the old CBA?

OOTP 18 uses a flat penalty, as a lot of the new CBA stuff was announced too late to make it into the game.

And CBA/luxury tax stuff is pretty complicated
I doubt we'll have these changes in the initial release, but maybe later in the summer when I get my head around the actual luxury tax rules and penalties, we can try to get them in the game.

I would add that if the current Tax rules make it in that I really hope the falt rate option remains. Im not a fan of MLBs resetting rate.

Read the CBA, specifically, Article XXIII. It's not exactly a simple thing. (The big twist this year is that now a club's highest amateur draft selection can be affected by its luxury tax status.)

It's going to be important to model, especially this year. The Giants and Yankees are being very careful to stay under the threshold, so hopefully AI teams will be programmed to (mostly) do the same.
