'Xtreme Settings

Now im looking for some help as im trying to setup the XBL... Vince McMahon's latest project

I know its hard for me to make things physically 'xtreme as such, but im trying to get something going... making a 'dinger' friendly league, things like that.

Sadly im a little confused with all the settings and my trial run has been a bit too 'xtreme!

Lets see some examples:

Single Season HR Record (70 game season) - 254 from 700 AB
Single Season BA - .949 ... 111 hits from 117 PA
RBIs? - thats 1559
Most RBIs in a game? - 55

Pitching
There has been 1 shutout pitched in 20 years of play.. probably a miracle tbf!
Last years league ERA? - 158.39....

Some scorelines... well Game 2 of this years Million Dollar Series saw Baltimore blowout Nashville 256-3 .... yeah its a bit insane, the game took 14 hours to playout and ended in the top of the 6th! Though Nashville did score over 12000 runs in the regular season, so there is still hope

So i need help.... I want power, alot of power but not silly power. I want speed, i want teams to gamble on the bases and play quick baseball.

I want games to end quicker.. can I cut innings played? Or set a time limit?

Anything that OOTP can do to allow me to have an extreme league, id love to know whats best to run and play with.

Outside of that its quite interesting, the Baltimore Dynamo and Mexico Mexicans are pretty dominant... Baltimore wnet 69-1 in back to back years! They have also shared 16 titles between them, forging a brutal rivalry as the rest of the league lags behind.

I tried an Arena League a few versions back. i used steroid era modifiers and upped pitcher stamina to high use of relievers and closer to the lowest setting and SB to its highest settings. Scores were more of the 20-15 range. 15 man rosters. Also the factors play a role. i used dimensions and factors for minor league parks like Kane County & Joliet.

adjust League Totals and modifiers... by that i mean adjust Modifiers ONLY, lol. if you do want to change LT, change them in a logical way.. make sure babip and avg and so/bb are in proper proprtions mathematically. you should NOT whimsically change HR by "50" or some other value without adjusting other things to make it sensible. it's just easier to work with the modifiers and not cause weird statistical anomalies due to some hypotenuse you created or god knows what is possible.

on Stats and AI setting page, right side.

first, click auto-calculate modifiers (best practice is to do this opening day, but before games are played!, because AI rosters and your rosters are fully setup for the regular season)... this will callibrate them based on current LT values and relative to current players in league. Now you can adjust them in an intuitive way.

e.g. if you Double the HR modifier, they should hit twice as many HR as a league. the better HR hitters will get a larger proprtion of this increase, fyi. This change to HRs will also affect babip and other statistical results in the appropriate and logical way. you may need to make minor adjustments to other modifiers after any major change to 1 related modifier.

so, if you cange more than one at a time, you may wnat to put some thought into how one change affects the others. stick to one at a time, then adjust as needed after you change 1 in a major way to get the others "in line"

this may take trial and error as far as what you want per individual. double, tripple, halve whatever stat necessary...

you do not have to auto-calc modifiers EVERY time, but it's a good idea before you start adjusting thing in a major way... also, if it's the 2nd time you click, it's callibrating back to the LT... so, if you tripled it before and that was not enough, you need to more than triple it, of course...

talent in league will be fairly consistent year-to-year, but it does ebb and flow, nonetheless. this is why the LTMs will be differetn each year you click "auto-calculate modifiers" button.

the most precise way to get teh actual baseline of player talent is using large samples of data that cover enough time and enough league turnovers to put everything in proper proportion AND static LT/LTM for a calculation of integrity. if you don't want to do that, no biggie.. for this context the yearly average you are basing the increase on will be close enough. .the changes you will make are huge and if it's +/- 50hr due to these factor, no big deal. it's arbitrary in nature.
