Brutal string of injurys
Fairly New to the game, created a fictional league and have been having a lot of fun (had to Make a Major Indianapolis team, sucks living here when we are surrounded by great MLB teams on all sides but are stuck with a AAA team lol) anyways. I seemed to have build up a pretty good team over the years. got to the finals the year before but lost. mostly because i had a TON of injurys (i think i had like 8 or 9 going into the playoffs). so i hired a new medical guy and this season has been insane (Buker and Mata playing like cheat codes) then boom boom boom. injury injury injury again towards the playoffs. dont know if theres a way to remedy this in the long run or if i just got the bad luck and just a group of guys having bones held together with tape =P to note though, ive noticed the injurys are not as bad this year. but seems like horrible luck to get all these in 3 games =(

You can change the injury rating under League Settings. Here are some Racers logos and jerseys for you. I did not make these.

Holy crap thank you! these are awesome, im going to have to scour the mods forum. (didn't know someone had the same idea for the name of an Indianapolis team lol works for me) as for the injurys, maybe im just not checking enough to see what other teams have in terms of injurys, but i do remember in the playoffs i was the only team with 5+ players injured and it cost me. but im not completely upset cause it happens in real life and im a roll with the punches kind of guy.

towards seasons end you can rest players if u have such a huge lead.
you should always check the other teams, they are likely to have some injuries too

if you attempt to avoid paper players, it's all luck after that. at the least you knw you are playing the odds with certainty.
may take a chacne on a frail 5th starter, but nothing i have to depend on in the playoffs. merely a bonus if they get there in those situations. that's a very bad risk i can afford. Last edited by NoOne; 11-16-2017 at 04:48 PM. |

Just like in real life we've all had team's seasons derailed by injuries. It especially hurts when it happens right before playoffs or to young stars that totally hurt their development. Just like in real life!

In a pinch, it is possible to go into commissioner mode and change all your players to "durable" injury rating and even remove or reduce injuries, if you're not opposed to cheating or gaming the system. That's just a personal preference in my opinion, as long as I'm not playing other humans.
I play out all my games and check to make sure each player in my starting lineup is 100%. Otherwise, they sit out an entire game. As opposed to real life, if a player pinch hits during a game, the result is the same as if he had played the entire game. This is especially important during spring training. As opposed to real-life of having a lot of defensive/batting substitutions, I focus on giving a distribution of entire days off to batters. Pitchers, on the other hand seem to work as desired. |

Concerning MLB in Indy, the town is full of people who have spent their whole lives following the Cardinals or Cubs or Reds. Can they be converted? See Tampa Bay, which is full of people who still follow the teams they grew up with up north. BTW, I've lived both places. |

I've seen teams plagued by injuries certain years. It all just adds to the realism of the game as the same is true in real life. Sometimes teams just get hit bad, maybe because of age, maybe because their unlucky. I like that it happens though.

Well, my major league team is doing OK, but holey-moley - I've got 25 injured minor leaguers at the same time! That's basically one whole team's worth.
I'm not complaining or anything - I just think it's interesting when the winds of randomness blow strongly one way or another.... |
