This NLCS game had me pulling my hair out
2031 game 5 NLCS, my Cubs are tied 2 games to 2 on the road, with my #1 (Torres), a Cy Young award front runner on the hill. We blew the last two games, in Atlanta, that we should have won. We were now facing one of the leagues top pitchers and nerves were on high. So what's the problem you ask? Well have you ever seen a box-score like this?
10 BB, 3 batters hit, and 16 men LOB, and the Braves out hit me 9 to 6 but still lost 4-3. Every inning it was something crazy. Guys always in scoring position and we'd wriggle out of it only to have it happen the next inning, and the next, and the next etc. In the 4th inning we lead 1-0 and my CY candidate Torres hit back to back batters. With a runner on 2b, and 1b open, he tried to pitch around the 8th place hitter but promptly plunked him. Ok, not the end of the world the pitcher is coming up and with 2 outs and still early they let him hit. Yeah, so Torres hits him too with the first pitch, what? I'm going crazy as the bases are now juiced with 2 outs and Atlanta's star lead-off batter coming up but Torres K's him (he'd better, it was his mess to clean up ). Craziest nerve wracking playoff game I've ever been a part of and I don't want to see another

Won the next game in Chicago 5-2 to advance to WS. Just won the WS opener against Texas 7-0 with a 22 yr old rookie SP, that was a 6th round pick 186th overall, and is turning into a stud. 8 innings, 2 hits, 1 BB, and 8 k's. When he doesn't walk people he is extremely tough to beat. Injury proneness is "Durable" so his future, and mine, is looking very bright
![]() Lost the WS last year (2030) to a three peat Yankee team that is unbelievable. Team stats .308 avg. .370 obp, 348 HR, +340 run differential. First in every offensive category except K's and SB where they finished a lowly 2nd and 3rd respectively They also had the AL's best pitching staff too I hoped to get back to the WS and play them again though expected to lose as they took their 4th straight but, somehow they were upset by Boston in the Divisional Series this year. My last WS appearance before now (2030 & 2031) was 2025 which I did win 4-3 over Baltimore. With the Yankees out of the way I think I have a chance ![]() FWIW this is not inflated stats due to LTM's. League hit 5246 HR's with .271/.340/.428. An up year for sure with 2030 coming in at .265/.335/.420 and 5093 HR but not off the charts. NL HR leader was only 37 but the Yankees with the short RF porch had a 1B with 46 (rhb) and two young studs with 56 each (one a lhb one a switch hitter). These guys are 26 and 27 yrs old and the older one already has 241 HR and the younger one 238 HR in their careers! Have to love this game!
