Minor league players missing?
Hi,
I had just finished managing a game and simulated to the next day then went to check on my minor league teams. The roster showed I had no players but most of my players remained on depth charts and in lineups but not on the roster. I simulated to the next day and my roster had filled with free agents and the free agents had also played in the games for the previous day. My major league team is fine and players on the DL are fine. I was even able to activate a player from the DL and put him on a roster. 3 of my rookie league teams didn't sign any free agents and have no players on the roster and only a few in lineups or on depth charts. If I search for a player I had the game is able to find him but he's not on my team. My league is named "Yankees" in the game and I FTP'd the zipped .dat files under the name "Yankeeshawkeye". Thanks for the help. |

I'll try to take a look at this tomorrow.

This is quite odd, it's a variation on something I've only seen rarely.
You can get the old players back by hitting the 'ask ai to setup complete minor league system' button. You'd still have to manually release the fa's signed though. For now, can you try the following to try to restore the last autosave of the game, which might get you back to before this happened? To restore from the automatic backup, do the following: 1) Open the game and on the start screen, click on Settings (or Preferences in OOTP 11-14). 2) Now click on the tab "Troubleshooting". 3) Click "Open folder containing saved games". 4) Now open up the league folder you're wanting to restore. 5) Then select all of the .dat files in the folder and back them up (just in case) by copying them to a temporary folder or creating a zipped file with them 6) Open the folder called "auto-save". 7) In there, select all of the ".dat" files and copy them to the league folder (the parent of the current folder) overwriting all of the ".dat" files in the league folder. Now start the game and load your league. If it's successful, it will display a message letting you know it's cleaning up text files. This might take several minutes to complete (or even longer if the auto-save backup is older, like from the beginning of the year).

Restoring the auto save didn't work because I think it happened the same day the game auto saved. Setting up the minor leagues appears to have worked however. Thanks for the help!

The problem is now reoccurring every time I advance a day after playing a game. If I don't play and simulate all the games it seems to work fine.

Can you upload the file from one of those days, preferably before you've done anything, and tell us exactly what you do as far as playing games etc. on that day to get the problem to happen?

Actually, never mind. I was able to recreate the issue using the file you already uploaded. So hopefully we can figure this out from that!

Yeah I just simulated through a day quickly once I restored all the teams and I thought it worked. Then tonight once I set my lineups again I played like normal and it happened again when I advanced. All that work gone haha! Good luck solving this!

Good news, I think we've tracked this down. It essentially comes down to having minor league signing and release on human control but minor league promotions on the AI. In some cases, if we end up signing a minor league player to fill out the roster, then essentially we end up a little confused and this situation crops up.
If you change to use human signing and release for the minors, then the problem shouldn't creep up. And we've added an extra check which should make it into the hotfix of the hotfix which should solve your case

Good news. After updating and giving myself control of minor league signings I played a game as normal and the problem didn't show up. I'll play more games tonight so I'll know for sure but thanks again for all your help!
