customized playoffs question
Hi all, I have a league created that is mirrored from a real life league in my home state. 2 divisions of 10 teams each, east and west division. Top 8 teams from each division make the postseason.
First round is cross division best 2 of 3 series with higher seed hosting every game. Top seed in east division plays 8th seed in west division and so on. Then from there it gets dicey. The 8 remaining teams them move to a neutral location, and it becomes a double elimination tournament. I want to implement that exact playoff setup for my league in OOTP. Is that even possible? I think that I could do one or the other, but not both. I don't think I can split playoff formats like this on OOTP, and if there is a way can someone tell me how? I have a feeling my options are going to be to just do the 8 team double elimination and nothing else, or to just do 16 teams in a regular playoff format. If anybody can help, I'd appreciate it. |

Edit: hehe, double elimination round?? okay, nevermind.. unless you can combine formats, this won't be possible, either way go click "customize playoffs), and play arond.
maybe some hack involving a split season format? second season would mimic the first round of playoffs, even if short, then a custom playoff with double elimination? unfortunately you'd have to make a custom schedule each year to get the matchups correct, but not too many games to schedule and you can do a series at a time -- anyway, get creative if not exactly available. old post info: as long as the seeding can fit, yes.... from what i see, looks fine. basically, you'll have to set it up with the # of teams,wildcardslast... but, then have to change all of the matchups to crosscut as you want... i assume that would work.. simply double-check the custom format the following year. i don't see any reaon why it would change. Can we have neutral-location playoff games now? I haven't noticed it being an option in 18, but I haven't played in a month or so.

think that's just cosmetic except for park factors...
not familiar with the details, since i haven't tried anythign quite like that... it's all in the gui, they won't hide anything on you. |

I have requested neutral site regular season games in the past and so far it's been heard upon deaf ears. Seems like they don't want to mess with the schedule editor.

I don't care so much about the neutral site games, I just want to be able to go from a best of 3 series with 16 teams and change it to an 8 team double elimination bracket. What I'm getting so far is that there's no easy way to do that.

Another question, I have an association going where I have 8 different leagues of 8 teams a piece. I want the regular season champion and the postseason tournament champion (or runner-up if the regular season champ also wins the tournament) of each separate league to qualify for the association playoffs. Is there a way to do this? I know I've done something like it before on a different version of OOTP
