Historical Question

Well, I've never played historical before, so I'm not understanding some things I'm seeing and hope maybe someone here can help.

First of all, as you can see from the screenshot, the Advanced Draftee Signing option is enabled.... huh??? In 1961? Is this right?

Second, scouting is disabled... so I assume ratings are 100% right??? But what if I wanted scouting??? I set up the future years to allow the OOTP Development model to account for future years ratings rather than "real" ratings from year to year, so wouldn't it be of some benefit to have scouting to add some fog of war? I know if I were playing straight out historical where every year the players ratings were updated based on their real life stats that scouting probably makes no sense, but it seems it could in this so I'm wondering can I activate scouting and if so will that mess anything up in this historical league?

And if anyone has any pointers moving forward they could let me know.

Here's what I wanted... I wanted to (and did) start as a new GM for the real 1961 Washington Senators. And I drafted my team in the expansion draft. And then from there.... well, from there I don't really care. The players can develop at random and if Hank Aaron's ratings take a nose dive and his career ends with 382 Home Runs, so be it. Plus, I'm not really concerned about real life draftees as it's okay with me if after this first season it becomes almost a fictional league.

So perhaps I should have started it as a fictional league with real players??? But then I don't know how I would have been able to start out by drafting a team for the Senators in an expansion draft, which is something I really wanted (and want) to do. I just wanted to see how I could do basically taking second hand talent from other teams and going from there.

I dunno. The expanions draft was fun. And then the game is pretty much the same but I'm worried before I go too much farther that maybe I set this up wrong.

Yes, you can turn on scouting by going to the League Options under Global options. From there you can set the amount of fog of war and change your rating scales. I personal, like the 100% accurate but use 1-5 scale to provide that fog of war.

As for the Advanced draft signing, it doesn't use all of the historical rules of the draft. I don't find it a big deal to change it either way.
