Reserve Roster - Your Good, Bad, Ugly

So I wanted to pare down a bit for the newest league I'm working on, so I went with reserve rosters instead of full minors. (This also fits with my belief that cities shouldn't be trapped into deals with teams that can take their players at will.)

I'm a little worried that it's not going to feature enough challenges, like waivers, reading minor-league stats, etc.

I'd like to hear from folks who use a reserve roster instead of minors--what are your experiences, good bad, or indifferent?

Although i have not played a historical MLb league in a few years. It is my experience that teams will have subpar players seer 1-2 games every September for 10-12 seasons at times.

I would also like to know peoples thoughts on this. I want to run a league with just reserve rosters but you do lose waivers, options, 40-man.

Have you considered just a smaller minor league system, like 1-2 levels?

Reserve rosters are a necessary evil lol. they really help with sim times in big worlds if you have leagues with just reserve rosters and not have to deal with minor leagues. Some people have complained that players just don't develop as naturally as they do when they are in the minors but can't really attest to that. I mean they do develop but I think the change is more sudden from a zero one year to ML ready the next, or so I've heard. My main beef with them is that if your league has foreign limits the AI will store foreigners on their reserve rosters even though they really have no chance of playing. I hate it but oh well..Like I said...a necessary evil.
