Some Player History Blank

Ok, so my Online league has been moved to OOTP18 and many of the player histories are blank. Awards history is thereIs there a file that I need to transfer to get all my old history from OOTP17?

And shouldn't the player History transfer into a new version? This league has been through 4 years of real time and 23 seasons not to mention 4 OOTP versions and this has not happened!!!

Long time player with No History at all

Here is a player recently traded

Note: it seems to be creating new history ok

Then there are some players with History completely intact

If anyone has a clue as to why this is, or any theories, please chime in!

It seems to me that, up until a couple of versions ago, player histories were stored in text files in this folder. Now, though, in 17 and 18 which are the only versions in which I can check, this folder is utterly empty.

That makes me believe that the developers moved player histories into a file like players.dat which cannot be edited. Given that, I'd say your 17 to 18 conversion process did not go well and I would ask the commish to try again. That's probably the only chance that you have to retrieve your player histories.

Thanks for the reply Bru, I am the commish, and I didn't notice this phenomena until after the conversion and subsequent 98 expansion draft, so it appears that there may be no solution possible

Hmmm. Maybe poll your "team owners" to see if they would prefer to try converting again from your 17 backup? I know that would be tough, to give up the recent results in 18 including the 98 expansion draft, but they may prefer that to losing player histories.

Thank you Bru, I checket the C:\Users\painm\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 18\saved_games\HSBL.lg\news\txt\players

folder and there were indeed 191 files

then I checked the C:\Users\painm\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 17\saved_games\HSBL.lg\news\txt\players

folder and there were 5,211 files

So I just copied the files from 17 to 18 and hocus pocus alakazam all players histories were intact again. Granted current ootp18 files were over written so we lost any history between Nov 1 - Dec 6 1997, But that is much better than losing ALL the history

So thanks for your insight, I greatly appreciate it!

This is one of those situations in which I am very glad I helped, but I have no idea how I helped!

So, you found a bunch of text files in this folder, which I looked into again in my game and found it to be empty. Yet, my player histories are fine. That's got me scratching my head.

Although, maybe things are done differently for an online league than for a standalone like mine . . .
