Looking for Help or Direction

Hi ladies and gentleman. I currently have OOTP18 on a new laptop, OOTP17 on an older one, I would like to import a OOTP17 game into my OOTP18 game, essentially from one computor to another. Any suggestions on the best way to do this?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Yes. I would do the following:
  1. Copy your OOTP 17 league file to a thumb drive.
  2. Deactivate the license for your OOTP 17 installation.
  3. Uninstall your OOTP 17 game on the old laptop.
  4. Install OOTP 17 on your new laptop and activate the license.
  5. Copy the league file to the saved games folder for OOTP17.
  6. Test the league by calling it up and saving it again.
  7. Install OOTP 18 on your new laptop and activate its license.
  8. Use the "Import OOTP 17 Game" feature in OOTP 18.

I recently had the same issue. I simply bought a USB drive and copied my OOTP 17 saved games folder. You could probably use some sort of cloud storage service if you don't have a USB drive.

The trick is to have OOTP 17 and OOTP 18 on the same computer at the same time so 18 can look into 17's game folder and do the job. He may be able to "Import OOTP 17 Game" directly from the thumb drive, but if I were him, I'd take the long route and do it right.

Good luck. Remember to leave some time, depending on the size of your league, and especially if you try to do it from a thumb drive. It may take a while.

I don't know why the old version is necessary. I use a Mac, and assume this is a pc, so maybe it's different. Get a good backup of your saved games folder and copy it somewhere on the new laptop. (Make sure to keep the backup copy available in case you need it). Open the new game, import your league, and save it ( this may be done automatically after you import). The thing is, as long as you have the backup data, you can do it the long way if this doesn't work.

Why bother with step 4? He doesn't need OOTP17 on the new machine, just the .lg folder. He can place it anywhere on the new machine, install OOTP, select import 17 lg, navigate to the .lg folder and import.
