GM - Challenge Mode and Team Control settings

Are certain control options meant to be limited to the assistant GM such as Initiate/React to trades? Sign/Release free agents?

Do assistant GMs do the trading in real life? I hope there is a menu pop up that warns me before an awful trade is completed without my knowledge. Transaction log for my team has become my daily favorite to keep my assistant GM in check.

So far, he has just signed some minor league free agents but I'm leery to leave that much control to an AI "assistant".

Also, the option to set the lineup/rotation is NOT limited to just my manager. Seems odd that a "GM Only" mode would allow me to set daily lineups but not be in total control of all FA signings/trades.

Thoughts?

What is your role on the team, i.e. GM, MGR, or both?

Just GM.

I'm hoping setting up the Trading Block will give the Asst GM a guideline as to who he can touch and who he can't. But I'm curious as to how much of my team building will be reversed/altered before I put in a chunk if time/effort only to have the AI change it for the worse.

Was "Active Roster Moves, Transactions, and Initiate/React to Trades" limited to the Asst. GM only in '17?

I'm coming from '16 where the Asst GM was just filler basically.

In Challenge Mode, you have to be in charge of trades and signing free agents. You cannot delegate these duties to the assistant GM.

You'd think but it seems to be reversed. Screen shot attached. Challenge Mode logo is on screen and I'm signed it too.

That makes more sense. Wonder what's wrong with mine. Getting tired of withdrawing my stupid asst gm's poor FA contract offers. Fired him and tried to hire a different one and while it's vacant, it's still locked to the asst.

Odd.
