Porting a League and LTMs?
So, for those that import leagues and actively pay attention to yearly resutls of the league...
Do your LTM typically need to be reworked (however you do it), or do they function the same as the previous year? will i see big shifts, small shifts, or none at all. i realize new features will have their effect in some logical way, but most probably won't cause the types of changes i'm worried about. |

FWIW I use default settings for my OOTP world. I auto-calc my LTM's before each new season and I'm happy with the results. IE I don't dig into the results to a minute degree. I compare the stat totals for hitting, pitching, fielding to my LT "target numbers" and they are always in the realm of reality for my taste. In other words I trust and am happy with OOTP defaults and the way Markus has setup and tested the game.
Having said that I have imported my league into each new version since OOTP4 (2002) and have not had issues. Pre-auto calc I of course did it all manually. The advent of auto-calc has made the whole process easy, since, as I said, I trust the results On occasion I import in-season but try to time my league to start a new season with a new version. Even doing mid-season imports I haven't had anything appear out of whack. But again take that as coming from someone that is very happy with default settings.

even though you don't stick to a baseline statistical environment, you did shed some light based on your description of midseason imports, it sounds like they stay at the same levels.
---- side note auto-calc is imprecise - with intent and purpose...empirically. i.e. they made it that way. it's very essense is purposefully untrustworthy, lol. i'm very happy with the results of the game. Because of my preference on LTM to remain static, when i see a 90power in 2016 i know it's the same as a 90 power in year 10,000,000, ceterus paribus. without static LTM, that is not true. if anyone reads that as "they will have the same results", you need to re-read until you do not get that impression. changing ltm is akin to changing somethign tangible in nature, like gravity, or something like equipment or the mound (alimunum would cause a huge difference, for example). some tangible cause should be the underlying reason for an LTM change. Ratings determing hits, 2b, hr etc... as far as causality... not ltm. that merely shifts results left/right on axis and ratios of various resutls that are tied to together (2b:3b:hr as one example). my way just allows randomness and modeled factors to do their magic and be comparable year-to-year (the latter part is what you get from static ltm... in any year you can always achieve that with any set of LTM your heart desires). effort? zero.. 1-click spreadsheet will crunch any number of years i export. matter of seconds to do it... however when a new version comes out, i don'thave multiple leagues... so, this is all an effort to avoid a short test run to see if stats shift wildly.
