Question and Advice on a Historical/Fictional idea

I want to start a solo game but wanted to see if anyone has done this before I try to figure out the details on my own.

I would like to do a startup with real players and teams, maybe in the mid/late 1980's. I want to create a world where the MLB was very strict with their PED policy and anyone who was ever accused or caught using steroids would play in the alternate league.

For example if I start the file in 1980, in 1982 Jose Canseco would be drafted into my league rather than the MLB... Another option could be to just let the historical settings run and as the players are added to their real life teams I could cut them, but then I'd need a process to get them into the alternate league..

Really just spitballing ideas and trying to figure out details and how I should set it up and make it work. Has anyone done a setup similar to this??

i like the idea...you can always just cut them and edit them once theyre drafted to the mlb team. you can place them on any roid team youd want via the editor. what could be fun is do a 6 team roid league and put MLB and the roiders in an assocaition and have them battle. just make sure you dont have the assoc. hold the draft...otherwise all teams would be drafting out of the same pool
