Player Off season tasks

How about this:

The ability to assign players to work on things during the off season.

For example, you have a pitcher who has great stuff but has the control of Nuke Laloosh. There's a little drop down menu that has a series of "work on" prompts. In this case, you choose "work on control"

Or, you have a batter whose contact rating sucks, so you choose, "work on eye" Or fielding, etc.

Whether the player improves or not would be based on intelligence, and work ethic.

In the preseason, you would get an email or a report from a scout or bench coach that says "I've worked with 'Joe Jones' this offseason and his control improved X amount".

What do you think?

I think that top line is the key. I like it. I don't know how much I'd use it, but I like it.

Yup, and that's what would make it cool in an OOTP environment. If you make him work on his control and there is minimal improvement, you release his a*s

Like if you have Clay Buckholtz in OOTP. In the drop down menu for offseason improvement there's the choice, "Grow a pair of gonads" If he doesn't, trade him for Moe, Larry, and Curly. Which is essentially what they did in real life.

Love it. And you could ask the player with ratings to play another position but no games played and he could potentially come to Spring Training with a beginning rating there. Or ask a reliever with good stamina but only two pitches to work on a third, and he could eventually turn into a starter.

Things like this are difficult to implement because it could potentially make the game exploitable.
