ootp will not open

i downloaded dircet x and installed it and then i downloaded the editor and turned my manger mode off and now my game will not open and says unknown error how do i fix this?

You are gonna need to give us more details, also did you make a backup of you league before doing this?

yes i did make a backup of my league
that is the only 2 things i did, what else do you need to know?

make a copy of the league folder you were using at the time. then delete that original league folder.

then try to open the game.

(so, if the league was Harcore league, make a copy of the Hardcore.lg folder and then delete that folder).

i delete the orginal league file like you said and it still want open i tried restarting my computer and it said the same thing

Changed DirectX? You might want to try using the utility to toggle off Direct3D. It's Game Configuration and it's right above OOTP5 on your Start menu.

I just downloaded the MM utility, and it states that you must turn manager mode back on. Did you do that?

the only files i deleted was the league folder and then i just now deleted the editor. this is really starting to make me mad

Well you got your backup. The best thing you might try now is going into your backup folder, use Select All--Copy, then go into the league folder of the league you were using and pasting your backup files there. If you do that right, you should get a message saying This Folder/This file already exists. Punch the Yes to All button and let your backup replace everything.

When that's done, cross your fingers and try starting again.

Dunno. Wait on what some others might have to say. In the end, you may have to unlicense the game, uninstall, reinstall. But first wait to hear what someone else may suggest.

assuming you have not emptied your recyle bin - go to the bin and restore the league folder you deleted.

I have found that ootp will not load if the last active league it was on has been deleted.

Assuming that gets you in, open (or create a new) another league and close OOTP. Then you can safely deleted the no longer wanted league.
