Who else turns off expansion?

When I first started playing OOTP about 6 years ago, I didn't know much about the game & I didn't turn off settings like expansion so I often found that teams like the Columbus Carpenters or San Antonio Suns would be joining the league. I didn't like it so I finally turned off expansion & I've kept it that way ever since.

Who else does this? I thought about turning expansion back on in 2020 because eventually I would like to see two new teams added, preferably one in Montreal. I could always manually add them myself with uniforms, logos, etc.

I play MLB teams with fictional players. My motto has been when the real MLB expands, so will my OOTP league. Until then... nope.

I always play with expansion turned off. I do not recall a time that I have ever used it, although it is a nice option for randomness. I prefer adding teams or making league changes manually.

yup, i always turn it off. one of my biggest pet peeves in this game is expansion/relocation/teams changing their nicknames. i always turn those off and leave the other league evolution things on

Always turned off. I'm far too much of a control freak to allow random interference with the structures I set up!!

Too boring playing the game exactly like the real leagues. Can't stay interested in watching the same teams play over and over and over again. I would rather watch exciting and new match-ups.

I prefer 10 Years After-I'd Love to Change the World over Aerosmith's-Same Old Song and Dance.

If anyone is going to render my league a financial white elephant through overexpansion or by relocating teams to cities like Buffalo or Wichita it will be me.

Interesting question...

I truly like the idea of expansion, but I believe it's implemented incorrectly.

I would much rather have the game inform me that the expansion (or other modification) was recommended in the Winter Meetings and give me the chance to approve it or not.

I would also like the option to change the city and/or team name. I hate having to accept team name I don't like.

In fact, the entire Winter Meetings routine should be updated - I'd like to see a lot more going on there.

I usually turn it off but that is because I think the current MLB needs to have contraction instead. I actually tend to contract about 4 teams.

I dont use it. But I do know many who do use it and is a big part of the game for them.

Instead of deleting the feature, perhaps building on it.

For example, I would love to have the ability to create a shortlist of 10 teams with names for the AI to randomly expand and pick from the shortlist perhaps with user controlled probability to tweak as well. If that was the case, i would enable auto expand. This can even be turned into a real life feature where owner names become listed with their desired citys, fan interest, market size, their bid price etc.

But I'm a dreamer

Expanision I am OK with but when 2 of my teams Baltimore Orioles became San Antionio Salmon kings they did seem to improve for a while. My other team Tampa Bay Rays became the Memphis Kats and suddenly got GOOD. I don't like the moving around but I don't mind the expansion part

However I still am hopefull eventually to have a feature that most leagues have is building new stadium negotiating with cities as such.

Off si do it manually before I start a new league I take a week or so and map everything out. For example I decide where the league will be located at then I'll look for the top populated cities then I look for the secondary cities and so on for minor leagues then I decide which teams will be in which division then I decide how many teams the league will begin with and left out when expansion will take place I also decide the names of every stadium for every team in the nickname for every team

I very rarely play with offense/defense changes enabled, but nowadays I mess with them manually instead of letting league evolution do it.
