Locking in a pitching rotation

I am having trouble locking in a pitching rotation. I am in the midst of a historical 1960 season and am operating as GM and field manager of the Giants. It is late July and when I try and plug in rookie phenom Juan Marichal into the rotation in place of another the game keeps undoing my choice and putting Juan in the pen as a stopper and pulling O'Dell (who's place he took in the rotation) back as the #4 guy in the rotation. I am sure it is just a box I need to check somewhere but I am stuck as to what will make this change permanent? Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Rick

Down the right side of the game is a button for "Manager Options." Click on that, then select "Control and Auto-Play Settings." There you will have a number of settings you can change, including who sets the pitching staff. It sounds like you've still got the Manager setting the pitching, rather than yourself.

global Settings -> click GM-legacy mode

this will allow you to control those thigns even when a %$^ AI coach thinks they are smarter than you in your own organization.

the delagation stuff in your gm office could be the problem too... pretty sure default delegation is all unchecked if you are gm, but could be wrong.

since it happened midseason, maybe the caoch progressed and turned into a control freak due to success. eventually a "meek" coach will demand more control as they win more and/or gain reputation. gm legacy mode prevents this, but still allows you to delegate through your GM office control settings if you wish.

(that's why you shouldn't use the "prevent ai roster changes" in team settings... it's absolute in nature and you must do everything related to your mlb team or it will be left undone..)

Thanks guys,
That must have been it, the pitching coach was listed as in charge. Changed that and we are good to go.
Cheers,
Rick
