Talking Question on Sound

I haven't been able to play with the sound yet. Everytime I start playing I hear it for a few seconds then my computer freezes up. I have to hit alt-ctrl-delete then cancel. At that point it starts back up and then freezes again a few seconds later.

I've downloaded new drivers and the new direct x.

Anyone have any suggestions (besides play without sound)?

I have the Soundblaster Live.

By the way, this game is sick. I'm completely immersed in this game. My personal life is in shambles.

I was also sad to hear Season Ticket Baseball is no longer available. That's how I got my start. Too bad.

Thanks

Yeah, I heard some people had this problem, but I never saw any solution.

Petco Park? My Padres are killing me.

I did not have this problem till I put on the new patch. Now It freezes when initializing sounds.

I also have an SB Live!...I d/l'ed the Creative drivers from their website, and the sound works now.

I have not, however, d/l'ed the patch yet so I can't comment on it's effect.

The latest SBLive drivers from Creative (at least the "Value" ones) are not DX9 compatible. Not yet, anyway.

If you check the date (even on the Feb28,2003 updated driver package), it installs with a July 2002 driver. This driver is NOT DX9 compatible.

Yet another case of Creative dragging their feet on legacy hardware drivers (thus making more people buy their latest soundcard.)

Hope that clears up the problem.

oh, I have the SB live and when I installed the new patch I also installed DirectX 9, that would explain why it crashes after the patch. I am going to have to wait for Creative I guess.
